If you have the opportunity to purchase one of my shed plans, you will quickly find out that my favorite of all shed foundations is the wooden floor built on 4x4 skids which are anchored to the ground with 4x4 posts/piers sunk in concrete.out of the 10 or so county's around where i live, and purchased a building permit, this was the required method of anchoring a shed floor.. The foundation supports the walls, and the walls support the roof of the shed. and the supported roof is why you are building a shed in the first place! this makes choosing the right foundation important. if you get it wrong, you get a sloping shed which is ugly and sticks out like a sore thumb.. Concrete shed foundation – conclusion. building a concrete shed foundation can be done easily but it takes some time to do it right. make sure you find the right place and get the proper permits for your shed. prepare the ground for your shed by digging the foundation to the proper depth..
A simple skid foundation consists of two pressure treated runners laid parallel on the ground. this is a lot cheaper than a concrete slab and has the added benefit of keeping your shed portable should you ever want to move it in the future.. Shed foundations work in a similar way by spreading the weight of the shed over a large area so that the timbers don't sink into the soil. what can you expect from a shed foundation? shed foundations aren't as stable as a house foundation. they generally don't need to be as stable as it doesn't matter so much if the shed moves a little bit.. Learning how to build a shed foundation on uneven ground can be a bit tricky. with proper instruction even the novice shed builder can be successful at it..
